Chiefly portraits of Flemish artists and architects.

All plates engraved except 87 which is etched. None seems to be a first state.

Plates taken from 3 works, whose t.p.'s are bound in as 1st 3 plates: Het Gulden Cabinet vande edel ury schilder Const[antyn] inhoudende den lof vande vermarste [sic] schilders, architecte[n], beldthowers [sic] ende plaetsnyders, van dese eevw / door Corn[elis] de Bie notaris tot Lier. t'Antwerpen : gedruckt by Ian Meyssens, 1661-[1662] -- Illustrium quos Belgium habuit pictorum effigies ad vivum accurate delineatae, nec non, quo quisque tempore et vixerit, et obierit. Antverpiae : Apud Theodorum Gallaeum, [1572?] -- Image [sic] de divers hommes d'esprit sublime qui par leur art et science devroyent vivre eternellement et des quels la louange et renommée faict estonner le monde. Anvers : Jean Meyssens, 1649.

Plates 1-22 engraved by Hieronymus Cock (re-engraved by Theodore Galle) or Jan Wierix (initialed), are taken from Illustrium ... which is a later repr. without text of Pictorum aliquot celebrium Germaniae Inferioris effigies ... / Dom[inicus] Lampsonii ... Anverpiae [sic] : [Hieronymus Cock], 1572--Cf. Bibliotheca Belgica, 1964.
