Si, en pratique, ce glissement sémantique ne bouleverse pas les choses, symboliquement, il en dit long sur les intentions de l'État à l'égard de cet outil. Pourtant, le doute persiste quant à son efficacité. Ce livre analyse l'engouement des élus locaux pour la vidéoprotection ainsi que les principaux écueils que recèle le déploiement d'un tel système.
