Edition Notes

There are three 1683 impressions, being the first to be published in Oxford and the first also in other than black letter: 1) "and to be sold by P. Parker"; 2) "and are to be sold by Thomas Guy"; 3) "to be sold by Moses Pitt." Collation for each is the same. "The register is continuous: first there is a half sheet without signature containing the title only; then one sheet A, containing on its first two pages the Preface (which belongs properly to the Second Book), and on its fourth page a Table formed by throwing the Tables of both Books into one; then B-Ddd in fours, except N, which is a single sheet. The pagination begins from B1a and ends with Ddd2b which is p. 388; but the numbers 91-94, which would have been the middle numbers of sign. N had it contained four leaves like the rest, are omitted; the last two leaves also of Ddd are not paged. The First Book begins on B1a, p. 1 and ends on N1b, p. 90. The Second Book begins on N2a, p. 95 and ends on Ddd2b, p. 388. The last two leaves of sign. Ddd are filled with the Thirty-Nine Articles and the Table of Affinity. There is no colophon."--Cf. The two books of homilies appointed to be read in churches. Oxford : At the University Press, 1859, p. lxxv-lxxvi.

Rare Book copy: Imperfect: title page wanting.

Rare Book copy: Title and imprint supplied from Mansell, v. 109, p. 148.
