An edition of Cores de Barbacena (2020)

Cores de Barbacena

uma viagem pela história da cidade

The book rescues events of various themes from the history of Minas Gerais and Brazil that, in the last 300 years, have been somehow linked to Barbacena, either because its resident participated in that relevant historical fact, or because the city was inserted in that historical context. But the reason for the publication is only aimed at the dissemination of these references that enhance the city, described under the view of great national and foreign characters, when they were passing through it, or narrating facts about when they resided there. In addition to these historical descriptions by barbacenense historian Edson Brandão, the book includes watercolors portraying the buildings, streets and squares of ancient Barbacena, painted in recent decades by Barbacen Waldir Damasceno. The publication includes small epithets, phrases, poetry, epigraphs of quotations to passages of historical events. It is worth mentioning that the watercolors do not necessarily have any correlation with the phrases and/or historical themes brought in the pages beside them. The text, however, follows a chronological order.
