Museums rarely present objects as migrants. Yet they often arrive there by way of a migratory process, a historical echo of the flows of migration that have dominated the news over the past decade. As individuals migrate, so do cultures, skills, religions, ideas, objects, and materials. This is nothing new, and yet its recent acceleration forces us to think about a world in which migration is a constant and the traditional distinction between 'native' and 'immigrant' is of less relevance.
