The Vale do Anhangabaú (Anhangabaú Valley) is a public space (park) in the city center of São Paulo, located between the viaducts do Chá and Santa Ifigênia in what is considered the point that separates the Old City Center from the New City Center. The book Vales Imaginários: Anhangabaúʺ was conceived from numerous studies, articles, dissertations and theses, materials gathered by architects and urbanists Péricles Varella Gomes, Luíza Chiarelli de Almeida Barbosa and Carlos Eduardo Mueller. Architect Varella Gomes is also a musician and a passionate about the Anhangabaú Valley in São Paulo, where he experienced remarkable moments of his life. The main one, which inspired the idealization of the book, happened in 1981, when he was awarded in the anhangabaú redevelopment contest in the team of Elgson Ribeiro Gomes (his father). Despite being constantly in the capital of São Paulo, the writer lives in Curitiba and the United States. The title is rich in historical images, designs and drawings.
