Edition Notes

Refers to the incident at Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare, where in 1852 a riot occurred, in which several local people were shot by a detachment of the British army. The occasion was the election, where the opposing parties were the Conservative candidate (Vandeleur) and the Irish Independence candidates (O'Brien and Fitzgerald).

Dated at head: Belvoir, April 3, 1853.
