Edition Notes

Cover title

"With in mind graphic and photo novels in which the movement in narrative and of the visual representation of those stories occurs in the intervals between the individual framed images. This shift in time from one stilled instant and scene to the next may be of a split second, or minutes, hours or days, or be of many years. In Time-lapse disparate photographs found in a Berlin flea market have been set out one to a page, with the other surrounding panels left blank. The identity of the figures photographed is not known, and the period and location may only be imprecisely conjectured. What had been the preceding and ensuing events cannot be determined, nor what immediately follows, or the people's lives up to that point and subsequently. The silent spaces on either side of the photos, and the implied progression from each of these onward, or back, offer an open field of infinite imaginable possibilities. The layouts of the pages of these framed lacunae have been taken from the Tintin album Les Bijoux de la Castafiore, pages 8 to 15. For this adventure, Hergé stated that he wanted to produce a story "where nothing happens". The book has been commented and analysed in exhaustive detail by Benoît Peeters in his reading and deconstruction - Lire Tintin: Les Bijoux ravis...Open edition, sewn folio of 16 pages including cover, 29.7 x 22.3cm, laser printed on 160gsm South Bank Book Smooth." -- John McDowall
