Three volumes on contemporary heritage topics, with the aim of contributing to the identification, assessment and diffusion of different immaterial manifestations, in the context of the processes of modernization and globalization that Easter Island currently lives. The books will also allow identifying the elements that put these manifestations at risk, as well as some of the protective factors for their safeguarding. Each volume of the Collection includes articles and reflections from national specialists -continental and islanders- that focus in a descriptive and critical way the situation, problems and perspectives around the current manifestations. In the first book, entitled History, spatiality and territory in Rapa Nui: a contemporary perspective, a reflection is presented on the heritage elements underlying the land conflict facing the current community; the value that holds the genealogical memory - inscribed in the territorial and transterritorial -; the immaterial dimension in current community use regarding archaeological heritage; and finally the characteristics of spatial and housing settlement that the community manifests today, which express social expectations around a polynesian identity. The second volume, Language, Art and Crafts in Rapa Nui: a critical perspective, manages to deliver a look that combines ethnomusicology, theater, social anthropology and archeology. An analytical diagnosis is presented about the situation of the Rapanui language, as well as the conception, production and circulation of art and crafts, managing to describe the scenarios that threaten or make possible its continuity. Finally, the book explores the evolution and current situation of music, dance, theater, orality and body arts located there. The third volume, Knowledge and social practices in Rapa Nui: a view from the intangible heritage, is an analysis of manifestations such as the traditional medical system, the culinary, the use and value of the flora, the annual celebrations and festivities, the practices and knowledge about the body and sexuality, which are part of a cultural universe embedded in everyday life, often overshadowed by the monumental nature of the existing material heritage on Easter Island.hree compilation volumes on contemporary heritage topics, with the aim of contributing to the identification, assessment and diffusion of different immaterial manifestations, in the context of the processes of modernization and globalization that Easter Island currently lives.
