The Jaufener Codex is a 450-year-old German-language mixed manuscript from the South Tyrolean area, consisting of a medicine book and a song book. In the song book (1603) can be found over 50 sacred and secular songs, taglieder, ballads and pats. The pharmacopoeia, which is about 50 years older, brings together numerous folk-medical and magical recipes for the alleviation and healing of discomfort.
