Regional design as a crucial instrument for large spatial issues. Some issues do not stick to municipal boundaries. Think about the energy transition. This requires at least a regional design. And that brings new questions with it, because looking beyond borders also means more perspectives, parties and interests. In South Holland they know that, in the past 25 years, the design teams encountered many new situations. They are central to this book. Which approach has been followed, which processes have been followed and how has that been experienced by those directly involved? These issues are each time highlighted on the basis of speaking designs, map images and the actual elaboration of these with photos from the practice of South Holland. The pitfalls and learning moments are discussed behind the scenes of the design process. Among other things, the characteristic projects in South Holland are covered: Cities, Coastal Zone and the A4 corridor. Attention will also be paid to themes such as urban expansion, landscape and the industrial-logistics system. These topics are discussed from different perspectives, with the importance of cooperation and dialogue always being apparent.
