This study, which focuses on the handling of non-Muslim characters through examples selected from the works published in the Turkish novel between 1900 and 1960, also examines the political, social and economic developments in the context of non-Muslims in the same period, thus aiming to make the meaning of literary products within the historical context. While the non-Muslim subjects of the Ottoman Empire, which have been shown to be advantageous in many areas, are placed in minority status with the proclamation of the Republic, the Treaty of Lausanne, which constitutes the legal basis for this status, becomes remarkable at this point.
