Facsimile edition of the "Menologion of Basil II," an illuminated Byzantine synaxarion (liturgical book of saints and their feast days) that was originally produced in Constantinople, between 976 and the early 11th century -- probably between 1001 and 1016 -- for the Emperor Basil II. The extant manuscript covers the first half (September-February) of the Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendar. Eight names of individual artists have been identified, including Pantaleōn. The original manuscript is currently housed in the Biblioteca apostolica vaticana as Codex Vaticanus Graecus 1613.
