"This edition is limited to fifty-two copies.There are forty copies numbered 1-40, ten artist's copies lettered A-J, and two publisher's copies. Each copy contains twelve platinum prints, three of which are loose, signed by the artist. The platinum prints were created for Herman Leonard by Martin Axon. The book was designed by Michael Russem at Kat Ran Press, and was printed at the Studley Press. The binding is by Peter Geraty and the Praxis Bindery. The paste papers are by Julia Rabin."--Colophon.

Rare Book copy: No. 34; signed by the photographer, the introducer, and the publisher.

Bound in dark blue Japanese marbled silk and goatskin leather. Title and image of cigarette smoke is lightly stamped on front cover. Case is covered in gray silk, lined in purple silk, and has a magnetic closure. Title is inlaid in black leather on spine of the case, and a large black leather inlay, in the shape of a quarter note, is on the front cover of the case.
