Madje Vollaers en Pascal Zwart richtten in 1991 Studio VollaersZwart op als designstudio voor interdisciplinair ontwerp en visuele communicatie. VollaersZwart onderzoekt de interactie tussen verschillende disciplines, zoals architectuur, beeldhouwkunst, mode, cultuur en communicatie. Op het snijvlak hiervan ontstaat de ideale situatie om nieuwe visuele scenario's te ontwikkelen. In de laatste 20 jaar heeft VollaersZwart zich ontwikkeld tot haute sculpture-designers voor City Dressing (het 'aankleden' van steden), het vormgeven van tentoonstellingen en kunst en communicatie op straat en in het landschap. Bekende City Dressing projecten waren het huwelijk van Willem Alexander en Máxima en de kroning van Willem Alexander, maar ook de Tunnel of Love, Love Parade, Holland Festival en North Sea Jazz. City Dressing laat 50 projecten zien inclusief hun sociale context, tijdsbeeld en de artistieke inhoud.
