Liesbeth De Stercke has a strong fascination with the Great Depression, Dust Bowl and post-war eras of American history, drawing inspiration from both 20th century literary classics such as Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, as well as the photography of Walker Evans and Ben Shahn. In February 2013 she challenged herself to draw one sketch a day, for one year. The daily sketching allowed Liesbeth to get elbow-deep into her fascination with the above mentioned eras.
