An edition of A review of a letter (1836)

A review of a letter

from the Presbytery of Chillicothe, to the Presbytery of Mississippi, on the subject of slavery.

Rev. Smylie responds to a letter that asks the presbytery to reject slavery as sin. Rev. Smylie argues that slavery itself is not sinful, but only how it is carried out by some. It's a great historical document on why a church and its members did not condemn slavery.
