"The happy Negro" is attributed to Ambrose Serle in "Sketch of the origin and character of the principal series of tracts of the American Tract Society" (American tract magazine, Nov. 1831).

Included in a list of "Recent publications of the American Tract Society" (American tract magazine, Nov. 1825).

The New England Tract Society adopted the name the American Tract Society in 1823 and printing continued in Andover until 1826.

Pages 3-8 also numbered 91-96.

Title vignette. Caption to vignette is a quotation from p. 4.
