Illustrated by four images from Herman Melville, Four Short Novels, A Bantam Classic from the library of Richard Kostelanetz. This book Richard read while a student at Brown University (around 1960).Thrice II. A contemporary reworking of Bartleby by Richard Kostelanetz. This represents the first of several attempts to make a favorite classic text happen today. Original first edition, illustrated by a definition from Webster's dictionary of the English language. Thrice III. Bartleby, facsimile from the 1st edition, Putnam's Monthly: A Magazine of Literature, Science, and Art, New York City, 1853. Copy made by Robert Volz, Chapin Library, Williams College, Williamstown in 2003. The 11 postcards are from the archives of Richard Kostelanetz."--Colophon.
