Emily K. Larned takes on fashions from the past in this issue of her Coptic bound, quarter-sized art zine. Juxtaposing a photograph of a particularly stylish individual from sources such as "Everyday Knitting" and "20,000 Years of fashion" with her irreverent commentary, she creates stories and personalities for the photographs. Next she reviews an out of print book called Celebrity Needlepoint and points out examples of the cliché "Make it more meaningful" from found sources. To finish off the first part, she illustrates several "self-help" slogans like "Just work harder!" and searches for certain phrases in LEO, the online NYPL catalog. The second part of the zine, called Barfait, is a series of essays on popular culture that Larned dislikes, such as Citibank ads, abridgements of books by Edith Wharton and Gustave Flaubert, cooptation by the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and the "pressata panini."
