Edition Notes
The text of the manuscript, XVI, 5, folios 76-82, of the Florence R. Biblioteca mediceo-laurenziana is given in full with "variae lectiones" of the other two known copies, Ms. XLVII, 8, of the same library, and Ms. Lat. perg. 395 of the Erlangen Universität Bibliothek. In the description of the manuscripts (p. ii-iv) the Florilegium is noted under the caption "Exempla poetarum".
The question of the authorship, whether by Aimeric, of Gatine (1086) author of "De arte lectoria", or by the unidentified "Serviolus", author of the "Opusculum metricum de primis syllabis", is not solved: "No copy of the Florilegium is known apart from one or both of these works" (p. v.); "We are left in doubt as to the origin of the Florilegium" (p. x)
