The Community Service Society of New York is an independent, nonprofit organization that for more than 150 years has helped New Yorkers in need to defeat the problems of poverty and strengthen community life for all. CSS works independently and in coalition with other organizations on issues of urban poverty in the areas of health care, affordable housing, the labor market, public benefit programs and properly financed public education.
