Includes original engr. t.p. with decorative border; emblem depicting S.P. Ignatius de Loyola standing between heaven and earth on verso.

Initials RR. C.S.I.A. on original t.p. represent: Rhetoribus Colegii Societatis Jesu Antverpiae.

Contains thirty-two engraved emblems numbered consecutively in Roman, each accompanied by an epigram in Latin with summary verses in French and Flemish.

Some of the emblems are signed: Phls de Mallery fecit. I. Cnobbaert exc. cum Privilegio.

Includes appendix with parallel German epigrams in verse from the 1697 Dillingen ed.

Includes bibliographical references.
