There is one firmly established fact: in May 1397, during Bayezid's investment of Constantinople Kallistos Xanthopoulos became Ecumenical Patriarch. He was the second of that name, not to be confused with his better-known predecessor Kallistos I ... For further information about Kallistos and Ignatios Xanthopoulos we are largely dependent on St. Symeon of Thessalonica (d. 1429) ... who devotes a chapter to them in his work On Prayer." -- P. 4-5.
