"The book was drawn up ... by order of Charles V. of France ... but as it bears a date [1365] subsequent to the coronation of this king, which took place on May 19th, 1364, it is not the book actually used on the occasion of that king's coronation. It was, however, written immediately afterwards, and it probably contains the forms which had been used."--Introd.
