Edition Notes
Signatures: a-b⁸, c⁴, d-f⁸, 2 l unsigned, g⁶, h-i⁸, (1³ signed a³), k⁶.
First edition; gothic type, with woodcut floriated initials.
Inserted between signatures f and g is a facsimile executed by hand in ink on old paper, of the two supplementary leaves that were printed some time after 1513 and added to some copies of this work. The recto of the first of these leaves displays a full-page woodcut map of the West Indies and the adjacent continental coast, including the Bimini islands, and on the verso is the text of an address to Cardinal Ximenes. The second leaf displays the erratic for the "First Decade", probably by Martyn Henry C. Murphy.--Ogden Goelet copy.
Autographed translatin by Mr. Murphy of the letter in Latin to Cardinal Ximenes; and autographed letters of Murphy; Henry Harisse to Mr. Murphy; and Herman A. Schumaker, Imperial German Consui at New York, May 24, 1877, laid in.
