Libretto for a parody by C.S. Favart of C. Pinot-Duclos' Acajou et Zirphile. Cf. New Grove opera.

This version is from the second and third performance, in which the vaudevilles were arranged by J.-B. Moulinghen. Cf. Grove music online.

"Cette piece est r[i.e. t]irée du Conte d'Acajou, de Mr Duclos, elle fut d'abord jouée en Prose & Couplets à Paris le 18. Mars 1744. sur le Théatre de la Foire St. Germain: après la défense faite à l'Opera Comique de parler, on la répresenta toute en Vaudevilles à la Foire St. Laurent suivante, & sur le Théatre de l'Academie Royale de Musique, au mois d'Octobre de la même année"--T.p. verso.

"Répresenté à Bruxelles par les Comédiens de S.A.S. Monseigneur le Comte de Saxe, Marechal Général des Camps & Armées du Roy, & Commandant general des Pays-Bas."

Published for performances at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, where the Maréchal de Saxe imposed Favart as director when the French invaded Belgium.

Airs, cued by number in the text, are printed at the end; not all the airs were published in this edition.

Signatures: A-I⁴.

Engraved title page illustration signed by Chedel.
