Published anonymously; inscription on t.p. verso is an acrostic that reveals the author's name: Pinḥas ʼEliyahu ben Maʼir Ṿilna.
In two parts, "the first part of which was an anthology of the sciences, while the second half dealt with metaphysical questions." Encyclopaedia Judaica, 2nd ed., 9:632.
Originally published 1797.
Title page gives some of the scientific topics in Yiddish: Fiḳs Shtern, Ḳometin, Logiḳ, Fiziḳ, Yeografie, Boṭaniḳ, Naṭur Ḳundigi, Optiḳ, and Anatomie.
