Originally delivered as a lecture at the International Congress of Historical Sciences, Berlin, 1908. It was subsequently enlarged by the author and issued in the Zeitschrift der Savigny-stiftung für Rechtsgeschichte, v. 31, 1910, under title: Das germanische element im spanischen rechte. The present work was translated from the German by Galo Sánchez and revised by the author. Cf. Advertencia.
