Date taken from British Library Public Catalogue.

Added chromolithographed t.p. with imprint: "Illuminated by Saml. Stanesby" and "Printed by T Bessent, 29, Essex St., Strand.".

Frontispiece plate is a steel engraved portrait of Sir Walter Scott, with a chromolithographed border.

Some etched plates include engraved lines.

All plates except two signed as engraved by "E. Finden". One plate signed as engraved by "J. B. Allen" and another by "Wm. Finden".

Other illustrators include G. Barret, W. Evans, P. De Wint, F. Nash, A. Nasmyth and W. Westall.

MASS copy: Bound in lavender morocco-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind. Boards with bevelled edges; a.e.g. From the library of Alan Suddon.
