In December 1753 the House of Commons of Ireland rejected the Act for discharging the remainder of the national debt (the "Irish money bill") because of a clause which insisted on the right of the Crown to dispose of surplus revenue; a vigorous pamphlet war ensued, this pamphlet favoring the rejection, Leland's Case and Robinson's Considerations opposing it.
