Brown, Governor of Georgia, to address the issues of transportation of corn to indigent soldiers families, relief fund for soldiers' families, cotton planting, illegal distillation, impressment of provisions, slaves escaping to the enemy, desertion of the cause by removals within the enemy's line, currency, orphans' estates, furloughs refused, new militia organization and conscription, confilct with the Confederate government, suspension of the habeas corpus, causes of the war, how conducted and who is responsible, how peace should be sought as well as other issues.

Work Description

Journal of the Senate after the House and the Senate were called together by Joseph E. Brown, Governor of Georgia, to address the issues of crops to be planted, the law against distilleries, transportation of provisions, salaries, the new code, small pox, impressment of Negroes, military law, rights of the churches, state endorsement of Confederate debt, Report of the Joint Committee on Transportation, corn supply, salt supply, cars of the Western and Atlantic Rail Road on other roads, establishments to repair and aid in further supplying rolling stock, regulations of certain rail roads as to contracts limiting their liabilities as common carriers. They also dealt with other items of government business.
