Consists of 237 hand-colored illustrations of flowers of the four seasons of which 50 are of Spring (2 vols.), 89 are of Summer (4 vols.), 70 are of Autumn (3 vols.), and 28 are of Winter (1 vol.)
According to the preface, written by Fujizono Chihen in 1907, these illustrations are chiefly done by Sakai Hōitsu and supplemented by his disciple Suzuki Kiichi and another painter, Nakano Kimei.
