An abridgment of a pamphlet by Pownall, published anonymously, London, 1780, under title: "A memorial, most humbly addressed to the sovereigns of Europe, on the present state of affairs, between the Old and New world." The abridgment and translation were made by or at the request of John Adams, while in Holland, and the pamphlet printed at Leyden by J. Luzac. cf. The works of John Adams, v. 7, 1852, p. 248, 332.
