Caption title in French: Proclamation qui declare le temps ou l'acte de la 31me de Geo. III aura eflet [sic] dans les provinces du Haut et du Bas-Canada.

"These proclamations gave effect to the Constitutional Act and instituted measures preliminary to the election of the legislature established by that act"--Tremaine.

Includes the proclamation dividing the province of Lower Canada into counties, cities and towns, dated 7 May 1792 (p. 3-14), and a proclamation declaring the issuing of writs for calling together the first provincial parliament of the province of Lower Canada, dated 14 May 1792 (p. 15-16).

Imprint date from Tremaine, who states: "The printer and place and date of publication of this work has not been definitely ascertained. It was probably printed at Quebec, 1792-1800, by the government printer--Samuel Neilson till Jan. 12, 1793, then John Neilson; or by the law printer, Wm. Vondenvelden, 1795-98 ..., or by his successor, P.-E. Desbarats, between 1797 and 1800. The last, indeed, seems likely, for one copy in the Public Archives of Canada is printed on paper dated in its watermark 1800."
