The Ashburton-Webster Treaty was signed at Washington, on Aug. 9, 1842. It settled several outstanding disgreements between Great Britain and the United States, especially with relation to boundaries (the Maine-New Brunswick boundary in particular). Cf. Ency. Canadiana, v. 1, p. 228.
