Little Man is ten years old and thinks Tico and Amon should let him join their gang. Amon says he will have to pass the initiation first: retrieve a piece of junk from the altar built by "crazy" Lucy Johnson in her backyard. Everyone says Lucy Johnson is a witch. She calls her altar a "sanctuary," a place where spirits of the dead can rest in peace.
