This Book is about the Descendants of John Borton and Anne Kinton that were founding members for the Quaker colony of West New Jersey in about 1680. It traces the Borton Norman ancestry from the English Midlands back to France in the days of Charlemagne. Its main focus is in the US. It traces John and Anne’s descendants to 1979. While it also has other US Borton Trees, the main focus is the lineage of John and Anne.
This book starts with the 1908 Book of the Borton and Mason Families by wrote by Mason C. Freeman (History of the Borton and Mason Families in Europe and America) and adds a lot of original Borton material such as the original deed granting John Borton land from the Indians in 168? and other early information from the New Jersey Archives. It’s 248 pages contains a wealth of Borton pictures documents and genealogy from the earliest days (1600s) to 1979. It uses the “Modified Henry System” of numbering making it easy to find and trace lineages. While there are a few errors, it is one of the best sources of Borton genealogy in existence. There are a few inconstancies with pictures from the Freeman Mason book, but mostly in picture labeling. In this case I use Freeman Mason’s book as the ultimate source (sense Betty Mann admits that that book is her original source of this information). It is an indispensably book if you are seeking information of the Bortons descending from John Borton and Anne Kinton.
