First person account of raising a son in post WWII America. The narrator returns from the Navy to find that his young son is running somewhat wild in the streets of New York, as his wife has not been able to provide a very structured upbringing while he was away at war. The book is the half-humorous story of their subsequent attempts to mold their child into the type of young man they hope he will become. The family moves to the suburbs, then to Mexico City for a short time. At the end, Goggle is in prep school and astonishes his parents with how well he seems to have turned out.
