Judy hadn't in the least wanted to marry Chris Voulis. Worse, she had actually wanted to marry another man. But she had been brought up in Cyprus, and in the time honoured Cypriot way the marriage had been arranged for her, so that was that.

Or was it? 'Start as you mean to go on,' a more emancipated married friend had advised her, explaining that if Judy made up her mind to be strong minded with her husband from the start he would not be so likely to treat her as a doormat.

So Judy took the advice and refused to be a real wife to Chris, at least until they knew one another better, and rather to her surprise Chris agreed. She had won the first round, but couldn't she still lose the game?
