Edition Notes
Racine's verse was literally translated into English verse by the unidentified "young gentleman." Finding the result deficient for stage production, John Crown freely rendered the translation into prose. Cf. Crown's prefatory epistle, reprinted on p. iii-iv, and Desmond Flower's foreword, p. 9-[11]
"One hundred copies ... printed"--Colophon. A hand-colored issue, of unspecified size, has been issued.
Each plate is on a double leaf with caption or plate numbering on one half.
LC has copy no. 70.
