It is an invaluable listing of all American (or with names that resembled Americans) passengers of ships that entered Rio de Janeiro in that period. This is the best source to locate and find the numbers of Americans that immigrated to Brazil after the War of Secession, and Betty told me she considered the number of 9,000 individuals a very good bet.
