From the Introduction: "The aim of this work has been to select my own particular branch of the FAIRCHILD family, to pick up its lineage (with my grandfather) in the early nineteenth century as previously incorporated in 1639, and to carry the sequence of the branch down to the present. This brief account of the family branch now extends the genealogy to eleven generations in the United States. ..."
