Edition Notes
Signed on p. [6]: C.J.H.
LC copy has "218 [and 217]" written in pencil on blank leaf facing p. [2] of cover.
LC copy has notice in green ink on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet laid in: "Whistler's Famous Peacock Room. The news which we are able to publish to-day will interest all art lovers and especially the admirers of James McNeill Whistler. The famous Peacock Room which Whistler designed for the late F.R. Leyland in Prince's Gate was recently placed in the hands of Messr. Ernest Brown & Phillips of the Leicester Galleries, Leicester Square for disposal, and has been purchased from them for a large sum by Messers Obach & Co., who will in a few days exhibit it to the public in their rooms in New Bond Street. The removal of this work of art at first appeared most difficult, but on examination it was found that the decoration was separated from the actual structure of the room, and it has been removed and re-erected by skilful workmen in a most complete manner. The public will now have an opportunity of seeing the room exactly as the Master designed it."
Forms part of the personal library materials in the Joseph and Elizabeth Robins Pennell Collection.
