Edition Notes

Includes bibliographical references, p. 31-32.
Overview of the contributions of enigmatic, popular Cuban poet Antonio Eulogio Hernández Alemán, "Seboruco," including texts of his "cuartetas."
Mimeographed reproductions of typescript text, manuscript text and borders, and many drawings on individual leaves of coarse white and brown papers with mounted, decorated-paper cutouts, including colored paper and wallpaper. Stapled at left margin, glued to brown paper wrappers, and tied with orange and green cords. Collages on wrappers and front endpaper incorporate decorated colored and "gold" paper, a stone from the San Juan River (Matanzas Province), a ceramic figure, wood veneer, string, cloth, and paint.
Part of a collection of handmade chapbooks, most with cords for hanging (literatura de cordel), published by Ediciones Vigía under the auspices of the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
Publication information from colophon.
"Ha sido posible gracias a la gentileza de The Banff Centre for the Arts de Alberta, Canadá, quien nos invitara durante cinco semanas a partcipar en la Residencia Temática sobre Cultura Popular, Cultura de Masas y Sub-culturas, entre septiembre 23 y octubre 25 de 1996"--Colophon.
"La pieza de cerámica de la cubierta fue realizada por María Inés Raphaelian, artista de Brasil, y por el artista cubano Sergio Roque"--Colophon.
Many leaves in the second group ([50] p.) are mimeographed or decorated on recto only.
"Décimas a Seboruco" by Fina García Marruz is transcribed in manuscript and illustrated with drawings inside a decorative border, all mimeographed on ragged rectangles of coarse, sand-colored paper pasted together to form a long banner (140 x 23 cm.). Round, white-paper cutouts with mimeographed designs are mounted at the bottom of the banner. The banner is folded, has a doubled green cord attached at the top, and fits under a narrow strip of decorated white bond pasted to page [43].
"Consta de doscientos ejemplares numerados ..."--Colophon.
LC Copy 1 is no. 18.
