In 1850 there was inaugurated in Belem of Para the “Cemiterio Nossa Senhora da Soledade”, beginning the systematic burial outside the churches, being deactivated with just 30 years of use. For its cultural value, artistic and historical for the city it was listed as National Heritage Landscape in 1964. Nowadays it have been used as a place of pilgrimage and popular devotion. It is a place that create a setting conducive to quiet reflection, contact with nature, prayer and contemplation.
