This is a report on the coverage of a parliamentary by-election in Makoni West constituency and the Mayoral elections in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The purpose of the report was to measure the extent to which media played the role they are supposed to play in ensuring that the electorate was informed in an accurate, fair and balanced manner. The two elections happenned during a period of intense political contestation between the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) patriotic Front (PF) and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). It scrutinizes the role of the media in the environment and some of the conclusions and observation are as relevant in today's Zimbawe as they were at the time.
