An edition of General of Fortune (1963)

General of fortune

the story of One-Arm Sutton.

A well-written book. Placing together the life of Frank Sutton, who rose and fell both financially and personally on many occasions through out his life. His exploits in Argentine, Siberia, China and Canada to name a few. He lived in times that were ruthless. His huge stature, good looks, sheer doggedness determination would have made him nothing short of a nuisance in these times. He was named One-Arm Sutton after loosing his hand at Gallipoli. The Turks were tossing crude bombs into the allied trenches, Frank noted the time delay, and started to pick up the bombs or, eventually, catching them and throwing them back. The Turks shortened a fuse and threw it short of the trench, Frank leaned out, realised the threat and tried to force the bomb into the ground, it blew his hand off. Think that was brave? Just read the book. I do not read much, but I could not put this book down. I am looking for more titles by the same author.
