This book describes creation and use of the Prison Education Participation Scale, an instrument designed to determine why inmates enrol in prison education programs. Data were gathered from inmates serving time in British Columbia penitentiaries. The PEPS is Boshier's elaboration of the better-known Education Participation Scale - used to measure the motivational orientations of participants in adult education programs.
