Biography of Johannes Waltimeyer (1745-1821), also known as Hans Waltimeyer, also known as John Walden Meyers "... outstanding Royalist patriot, British secret scout, spy and soldier-adventurer during the Revolution in the American Colonies, and the record of his consequent settlement and patriarchal founding of a leading family of pioneering prominence in The Bay Kentie in His Majesty's loyal province of Upper Canada."-- (p. after t.p.). Johannes Waltimeyer (1745-1821) was born in Albany, New York to a Prussian immigrant to the Mohawk-Hudson area. He married Mary (Polly) Cruger (Kruger) in 1765, and was close to her brother, John Cruger. He and John Cruger remained loyal to the King when the Revolutionary War came, and Johannes--or John Walden Meyers--was active and elusive throughout the war. After the War, he was appoined by the British governor to explore the Bay of Quintie area for lands suitable for Loyalist colonization. This he did, as well as settle in the area. He became a notable farmer, timber merchant, owner of a batteaux service, and an increasingly prominent large- scale industrialist.
